NEC Corporation is to present its smart energy solutions, showcasing advanced smart grids and future projects in electricity transmission and energy distribution, at the Smart Grids Summit 2012 at the Grand Hotel in Stockholm, on January 24th and 25th.

At event NEC will introduce 'Green Power Platform', its new concept for addressing challenges in the smart energy industry, consisting of ICT, electric vehicles chargers and lithium-Ion batteries for energy storage, integrated in a cloud services architecture.

“What we are seeing in the energy market is a paradigm shift to an ‘Internet of Energy’, where power is handled the same way the Internet handles data,” said Ugo Govigli, Vice President Smart Grid Solutions, NEC Europe. “To that regard, NEC is promoting, as a member of a Japanese consortium founded last September, the concept of 'Digital Grid' to enable full convergence between power and information, while enhancing secure and eco-friendly energy usage.”

As a Platinum Sponsor of the summit, NEC will also host a workshop about efficient energy utilisation on the second day of the summit - Wednesday 25th.
