Techdrives has expanded its Patlite range of energy-efficient LED light bars with new CLA models available in strip lengths from 100 to 1500mm.
Although more expensive than conventional fluorescent tubes, Techdrives, a division of Lenze, emphasis the advantages offered by light bars, particularly in difficult conditions or locations where access may be difficult or inconvenient.
Where light is needed in extreme conditions, such as in food and beverage machinery where wash-down is required, CLA light bars offer protection to IP69K and can withstand an 80deg. steam jet at 80 bar. Their seamless rounded body minimises dirt traps and construction is in shock-proof polycarbonate without any glass content, so danger of food contamination is removed. Furthermore, there is no mercury content.
If high-quality illumination is needed — for example in inspection machines or for checking output in printing machinery — light bars have options for natural white light with no infared or ultraviolet content, or for daylight and yellow/amber designed for vision systems such as those used in semiconductor production. In each case, illumination is extremely even without glare.
LED light bars also offer a 52 per cent energy saving over fluorescent tubes of the same rating, say Techdrives, with the largest 1500mm light bar having a power rating of only 29W for 1725 lumens at 1m. Light bars are also electronically safe with a 24V supply, and the heat radiated is low, adding to comfort when lights have to be positioned close to machine operators. There is also no UV radiation and flicker effect.
Light bars are easy to fix with either simple screw and clip connections or with magnetic fixings. And with a lifetime of four to ten times that of fluorescent units, the need for replacement is reduced or even eliminated on many applications.
