Two new series of Smart-UPS units, designed to bring significant utility and cooling savings compared to most other line-interactive UPS systems to server rooms and network closets, have been introduced by power systems specialist APC by Schneider Electric.
An LCD interface with diagnostic capabilities and advanced energy management delivers clear and timely energy consumption metrics. SAnd in addition to providing superior data protection, the units' ‘green’ mode is said to achieve efficiencies of more than 97per cent.
“In these difficult times, users need exceptionally high efficiency in order to optimise IT assets and reduce operating costs," says Dave Johnson, senior vice president, Home and Business Networks, APC. "In addition, they require advanced monitoring and diagnosis capabilities to prepare and react in near real-time. The new APC Smart-UPS models offer IT and facilities managers the highest efficiency, manageability and reliability that today’s distributed systems demand."
Built on the same standards as the established Smart-UPS family, the new models' intuitive, customisable LCD interface provides local and remote configuration capabilities, accurate power status information, diagnostics, tests and activity logs. Information is clear and concise and displays everything from product serial number to APC support information in various languages.
Additionally, APC says its Smart-UPS are the only units to offer advanced energy management to notify users of a recommended battery replacement date. This technology adjusts a battery’s lifetime based on environmental conditions to provide advanced notification.
