Hoyroyd's Airborne sensor lets you 'listen' to the leaksNew from condition monitoring specialist Holroyd Instruments, the MHC-Airborne sensor is an accessory for the MHC range of portable instruments that enables users to detect power- and energy-wasting leaks in air or vacuum systems.

By simply attaching the sensor to the instrument and using the headphones, the user can easily 'hear' the leak from up to 5m away, subject to pressures and size of damage. This audio feedback allows engineers to narrow in on the leak with ease — the closer you get the louder it gets! And it is so sensitive that it even even picks up the 'chattering' of electrical contactors as they make and break.

But don’t be fooled that it’s just an audio microphone, says Holroyd — it’s not. It actually picks up high-frequency airborne ultrasound generated by turbulence in the air caused by the leak. This means that even in most noisy industrial environments the user will only hear the leak and not the general audio background noises of the machines.

The Airborne sensor is compatible with Holroyd's MEMO PRO, MEMO and CLASSIC instruments.
