At this week's Intersolar exhibition in Munich, National Semiconductor and electrical and optical connectivity company Huber+Suhner AG, are debuting the next generation of solar junction boxes from H+S that employ National's SolarMagic technology.

SolarMagic power optimisers distribute smart electronics throughout a solar array in order to maximise the energy harvest of installations at the panel or 'string' level. By integrating power electronics with enhanced performance management, National and Huber+Suhner can offer a smart panel junction box solution that efficiently and cost-effectively boosts system performance.

"As the solar market continues to evolve, balance of systems solutions like SolarMagic power optimisers are essential for maximising system power production at the lowest cost," said Mike Polacek, National's Senior Vice President. "In collaborating with respected providers like Huber+Suhner, National Semiconductor is further improving the cost-effectiveness of solar power optimisation and facilitating a quicker return on investment for array owners."

Patrick Riederer, COO of Huber+Suhner's Low Frequency Division, said: "RADOX smart junction boxes enable us to offer panel manufacturers an efficient, optimised and therefore value-enhancing solution for their customers. We believe that bringing the 'smarts' to solar modules is where the industry is going, and we are excited to lead the market in this direction."

*Meanwhile, National Semiconductor announced today it has signed a sales agreement to integrate SolarMagic technology into QC Solar's SmartTrack product line, including intelligent junction boxes. The move comes one year after the two companies formed a strategic partnership and marks the successful completion of extensive tests of National's technology in QC Solar's products.
