Flagship Proven 35-2 small wind turbine has become the second turbine from Proven Energy to be fully certified through MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme). This industry requirement was created to assist customers in making an informed decision when selecting a wind turbine and is a fundamental requirement for end users to access the UK Feed-in Tariff (FITs) scheme.
With testing on the 35-2 beginning in mid-2010, Proven Energy says the resulting overall performance exceeded expectations. The certification, completed this month, has resulted in a Rated Annual Energy (RAE) of 23,200kWh at 5ms-1 and a rated power of 12.1kW at 11ms-1, and again confirms the strength of the scheme in providing an independent and accurate reference point for consumers.
Engineering Director Jonathan Nowill said: “Proven Energy has always supported the need for the certification process. It’s hard work to achieve these standards but we believe that it should be hard work — this is what gives credibility to products in the marketplace and ensures peace of mind and direct comparability for end users."
There are currently in excess of 500 Proven 35-2 installations worldwide, with the majority already qualifying for UK FITs through the MCS Transition List arrangement. The Transition List will close on December 31st 2010, but the company says that the granting of MCS certification for the Proven 35-2 means that it will be completely unaffected by the closing of the Transition List.
