Delegates from the European Environment Agency, Good Energy and the Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT) are to lead a day of lectures, workshops and discussion in Bristol next month on the need for the UK to make the transition to a zero carbon society.

Under the title Zero Carbon Britain – from Aspiration into Action, the lectures and workshops at the Bristol Schumacher Conference 2010 all tie in with CAT’s breakthrough 'zerocarbonbritain2030' report released in June. Workshop discussions will be lead by Paul Allen (CAT), Eugenie Harvey (10:10), Prof. Peter Reason (University of Bath), Victor Anderson (WWF), Jean Boulton (Sustain), Mark Gater and others.

Topics for discussion include ‘Zero growth and improved quality of life?’, ‘Feed-in tariffs and renewable heat incentives’, ‘Human dimensions of low-carbon technology’ and ‘Cutting our emissions’.

The event takes place on October 16th at the Council House, Collage Green, Bristol, and is organised by the Schumacher Society, which promotes the 'small is beautiful' aims of the German-born economist E F Schumacher.
