Following the UK's introduction of attractive feed-in tariffs, Germany-based solar photovoltaic systems company Centrosolar has announced plans to set up a subsidiary in the UK. To be located near to London, the UK branch will be headed by 33-year-old Simon Gerrard, who has worked in the solar industry for seven years.
Now that attractive feed-in tariffs are available in the UK, Centrosolar says it detects increased potential for photovoltaic systems on both private houses and commercial roofs. Alongside its integrated packages — comprising crystalline high-performance modules and all the components needed to operate a system — the company supplies lighter thin-film systems that are especially suitable for roofs with low load reserves.
In the crystalline segment, Centrosolar uses exclusively solar modules manufactured at the group's own Sonnenstromfabrik plant in Wismar, Germany. Centrosolar has already applied for certification under the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS), which is essential for business in the UK, and it passed the required inspection of production operations last month.
