Diversified energy services company Senergy has opened a new office in one of the UK’s key renewable energy hubs in direct response to demand in the region and to position itself for further growth in the marine renewables sector.

Senergy’s team of survey and geo-engineering specialists has established the base at Lowestoft, home to a growing number of companies operating in both the oil and gas and renewables industries. Located at the OrbisEnergy Centre, the office will initially be managed by Phil Edwards, commercial director for Senergy’s survey and geo-engineering division. It is anticipated that a number of new jobs will be created as Senergy grows an integrated project team in the region to support the company’s UK operations.

Daren Wallwork, managing director of Senergy’s survey and geo-engineering division, said: “Senergy’s activity within the marine renewable sector has increased considerably and there is huge potential in wind, tidal, currents and wave energy projects. It is anticipated that more than £10 billion will be invested over the next ten years in offshore renewable energy around the East of England coastline, and by focusing on key regions such as Lowestoft, we are ensuring we are strategically positioned to support this growing market.”

Senergy, which employs more than 450 people, delivers integrated project and asset development services to the energy industry worldwide. Senergy also has other interests in alternative and renewable energy, with a dedicated division that provides consulting and advisory services to the wind power, grid connection, carbon capture and storage, geothermal and coalbed methane markets.
