CT Investment Partners, part of the Carbon Trust group, has been appointed to manage a new £20m Energy and Environmental Fund, one of six funds established under the umbrella of the North West Fund, a new £184.8m package for North West businesses.
Between 2010 and 2015 the North West Fund is expected to create or safeguard almost 14,000 jobs and improve the economic performance of England’s Northwest. The fund will be ready to receive applications for funding between July and August 2010.
Peter Linthwaite, Managing Partner of CT Investment Partners, said: “The UK is well-placed to be the hub of the low carbon economy and this new Energy and Environment Fund is a major vote of confidence for businesses in the North West region, which are looking to develop the low carbon solutions of the future.
"Through years of experience advising the Carbon Trust in early stage venture capital and seed investments to accelerate the commercialisation of clean tech businesses in the UK, CT Investment Partners is well placed to ensure this fund is invested in the right companies to support growth of the low carbon sector and stimulate inward investment in the region. We are delighted to have been recognised for our specialist skills in this sector and to be given the opportunity to manage the Energy and Environmental Fund.”
Mark Prisk, Minister for Business, said: "I welcome this investment in the North West, which will provide an important boost for the region’s economy. In these difficult times, focusing support on the sectors that are able to create jobs and opportunities is vital for stimulating growth and getting our regions on track for recovery.
"It is one of Government's key priorities to ensure that this North West Fund and all other national and regional provision in future will become part of a strong, single and coherent offer of finance and investment for dynamic and growing businesses."
