Aberdeen-based subsea construction company Subocean, last night won the prestigious Best Company accolade at the Renewable Energy Association’s (REA) British Renewable Energy Awards, which honour outstanding achievements in the British enewable energy sector.
“This is a tremendous achievement for the entire team at Subocean, whose dedication has seen us achieve remarkable success in such a short period," said managing director John Sinclair. "We are particularly proud of our track record in innovation and of our market-leading position which is a result of substantial investment in our assets for Subocean’s future and indeed that of the industry.
“There is an abundance of opportunities to be capitalised on in the renewable energy sector and these awards are a great ambassador for British organisations in the industry. I hope the success of the awards acts as a further wake-up call to the opportunities, and drives consolidation of the UK’s expertise to ensure we position ourselves at the forefront of developing a global sustainable future.”
Subocean won the Company award in recognition of its carefully engineered business plan and innovative approach, which has achieved tremendous results through significant and high-profile contract wins. Industry-recognised as one of the UK’s leading renewable companies specialising in high performance subsea cable installation and burial solutions, the company is the main sponsor of this month’s RenewableUK Offshore Wind Conference in Liverpool.
Over the past two years, Subocean has experienced rapid growth by doubling the size of its Aberdeen premises and increasing its employees to 100 onshore and 300 offshore. The company, which has a turnover of £60m, has also expanded into Europe by opening an office in Bremenhaven, Germany. And this week, Subocean also announced that it is to set up a workshop and equipment store at Great Yarmouth’s EastPort UK, utilising both the outer harbour and river facilities as part of its new operations base.
