International speakers are to present information and trends on power quality and electrical energy efficiency issues next month at a Power Quality Forum organised by the Hertfordshire-based electrical energy initiative Leonardo ENERGY. The two-day event is linked to the official opening in Kortrijk, Belgium, of a new Lemcko electrical laboratory.

The event, on June 10th and 11th, is targeted at design engineers, decision makers and maintenance managers facing power quality issues, and also academics with an interest in the field. It will give participants an opportunity to network as well as attend presentations from specialists throughout Europe, and return to their respective organisations with an up-to-date picture of power quality issues and mitigation techniques being offered today, and planned for the smart grids of the future.

Leonardo ENERGY is an initiative managed by the European Copper Institute, dedicated to building information centres to serve designers, engineers, contractors, architects, general managers, regulators and students, who are professionally or otherwise involved with electrical energy. Through various projects, over 150 partners — including Lemcko — from leading academia and industry are involved with Leonardo ENERGY.

Topics include presentations on the impact of active filters on energy efficiency (Kurt Schipman of ABB); power quality and the smart grid (Bill Howe, EPRI, USA); low harmonics frequency converter (Patrick New, Siemens); and education on power quality (Roman Targosz, ECI).

The event is free, but places are limited. More information and registration is available at www.onlineregistrationcenter.com/register.asp?m=211&c=131.
