A one-day seminar to examine various ways of saving energy in the food processing industry is being hosted next month by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.
Designed to provide 'a holistic view of energy saving in the food processing industry', the event, on June 24th, is aimed at a wide range of job functions within the food and allied process industries — from chief executives, consultants and energy managers to design, maintenance and project engineers, chief engineers and accountants.
"Reducing energy consumption is vital for food processing in today's economic climate," says the IMechE. "While energy expenditure alone is not the biggest single cost for food companies, savings made in this area provide a welcome financial cushion for the business as a whole."
Starting with a major consultancy's overview of the savings to be made by reducing energy costs in food processing, the seminar will look at how back-to-basics measures can be immediately implemented to save energy; discuss the range of affordable appliances and technologies available for businesses seeking to reduce energy costs; and also feature an interactive roundtable discussion forum where speakers and delegates can share their knowledge in order to start reducing energy costs immediately.
